October 17, 2006 There will be a USAC Officials Certification class from 9am – 1pm @ Vestavia Hills Library in B’ham on November 4, 2006. The cost is $40 – pay at the door. There will be an open book test at the end of the class. If you pass, you will be a Level C certified United States Cycling Official. Benefits will include: being called to officiate Road, MTB, Track and Cyclocross events throughout the southeast. From what I have been told, the event coordinators pay all expenses for you to come and officiate. If some of you remember, Sylacauga Road Race was cancelled due to not enough officials.

August 30, 2006 ACCA to attend the Autumn Challenge. ACCA will have a large presence at the Autumn Challenge bike ride on September 2, 2006. We are doing the century ride which is 100+ miles. Several members have perticipated in the event in the past and tell us that it is a well supported event and a lot of fun.

The 2006 Autumn Challenge is the fifth annual challenge held in memory of Dr. Jim Glassner, a longtime friend and supporter of cycling in central Alabama. A member of the Montgomery Bicycle Club, Jim was killed in a cycling accident on December 16, 2001. Jim was an avid cyclist, and the Autumn Challenge is dedicated to his love of cycling. For more information you can visit The Montgomery Bike Club web site.
